ABOUT TRUEBLUEACTION PAC
TrueBlueAction.com is the website of True Blue Action PAC, a Texas General Purpose political action committee. This PAC is dedicated to building and making accessible tools for activists and candidates and campaigns.

The PAC's mission is to fund and maintain the development of tools and the data needed for them to be functional.

All funds raised are expended toward those causes.

This PAC does NOT endorse candidates specifically, nor does it contribute funds to a specific candidate.

All tools are open to anyone who agrees with our TERMS OF SERVICE and who joins True Blue Action by signing in at TrueBlueAction.com.

PRIVACY and DATA/CODING INFORMATION

All data used in the tools is available as Public Records or is from information gathered by volunteers talking to voters. Where TrueBlueAction.com links to tools 'off-site', we can make no guarantee of their data source, but we have tried to provide links to reputable organizations.

We have attempted to give everyone enough information to use these tools, but not more than you need. We are well aware of identity theft issues and misuse of data. Therefore, we’ve attempted in as many cases as possible to “manipulate the data” so that you cannot actually use this to data mine private information.

We’re open to suggestions on how to better protect privacy. Email us at: Admin@TrueBlueAction.com

BIRTHDATES
We use age wherever possible so you can figure out if you have found Junior or Senior folks. We refrain from using complete birthdates. Some tools might have that upon our first launch, but we’re programming away as quickly as possible to “translate” that into only age or age ranges.

VOTING HISTORY
We don’t know WHO you voted for or against, but it’s public record of which elections you voted in. In Texas, people don’t register by Party, so you are “legally” a Democrat or Republican by voting in the Primary election in the spring. You are “legally” a Libertarian or Green by signing their petitions, attending their nominating conventions, etc. You get to be an Independent by just not doing anything!

There are lots more people who never vote in the primary or attend conventions who proclaim they are a Democrat or Republican. We accept that here, too. In fact, there are a heck of lot more “proclaimed” Democrats than primary voters.

Lastly, there are those who don’t have a Party affiliation in their minds, but who vote in a Primary election just because there’s a hot primary for sheriff, or their best friend is running in the other Party’s primary, or there are no Democrats running locally, so they voted in the Republican primary. For whatever the reasons, these folks can muck up your organizing! Don’t get us started about liberal Democrats voting in the 2000 Republican Primary just so they could vote against George Bush. To this day, those folks get excluded from Democratic lists because they “voted Republican”. And be well aware of the decades long pattern of some folks voting in the Democratic Primary for their local officials, and then voting Republican in the General election for national offices.

In order to make your organizing easier, we’ve tried to indicate to you something about the voter’s Party affiliation or likelihood of being a Democrat.

To keep this simple, we manipulated a lot of data to come up with only a few descriptive codes you’ll see in these files:

GE (general election only),
DP (Democratic primary and no Rep),
RP (Republican primary and no Dem),
BP (at least one primary for each party),
NV (no recorded voting history), and
NW (new, registered since the November 2004 election).

PHONE NUMBERS
We obtain these phone numbers from computer matches. If no one has ever called a number, it sits in this file until someone tells us it’s wrong. OK, we’ll say it. Some voters haven’t ever been called by anyone or any campaign, so the number on this file may have been “idle” for 20 years if the updated computer matches didn’t catch it, or the voter now has a cell or computer phone. Therefore, since we’re in uncharted territory of calling in all 8200 plus precincts, you’re helping weed out this bad data. Please don’t complain to us about us having a bad phone match. You’re helping solve that.

And always remember this. About 40% of all voters will never be called since we have no number or they use a cell phone.

BAD PHONE NUMBERS
In the Online Phone Bank, bad numbers are suppressed and never get called again. In the other tools, if there is a button for “Bad Number,” please help us by coding that information. This will save you or another volunteer the time of dialing a bad number again.

NEW PHONE NUMBERS
If you have access to a local voter file with more up to date phone numbers than what’s here, we are open in an in-kind contribution of voter certificate numbers with phone numbers appended. Email Glen Maxey at Glen@TrueBlueAction.com to discuss this donation to enhance our effectiveness.

In some of the tools, there is a space to add a new number if the voter gives it to you or the phone company computer does. Please key them in!

Use this format for numbers: 5126789098 If you use dashes, or slashes, we’ll clean it up later. ALWAYS put in an area code. Phone bankers might be calling precincts using unlimited long distance or free minutes.
